Marsh's Ambitions

1. Provide additional services to employees
The company wants to best meet the needs of its employees by providing services that allow them to be more fulfilled at work, and to make their daily lives easier.
2. Adopt a mobility strategy
Marsh's goal is to encourage more environmentally friendly travel.

I. Context

Marsh had a parking lot for its offices located in Brussels, but there were not enough parking spaces to meet employee needs.

The company decided to rent parking spaces via BePark. Access to the parking lots in which these spaces were located was by badges.

Parking management encountered numerous complications, including significant time expenditure for the fleet manager, recurring incidents of lost badges necessitating replacements, unpredictable badge quantities surpassing rented space availability, and hindered efforts towards intelligent and collaborative resource management

Marsh's fleet services was clearly in need for a parking management software to best run the accessibility and allow a centralized management of the different parking lots.

II. Challenge

Avoiding wasted time for employees: Employees who were unsure if they had a free spot inside the company parking lot wasted countless time looking for a spot in the workplace vicinity.

Having optimal visibility of parking lot resources: It was difficult for the fleet manager to control the parking without a visibility that was representative of all parking resources. Each site was managed individually, which was time consuming and also complicated the fleet manager's task.

Providing sufficient parking spaces: There were not enough parking spaces to meet the parking needs of employees.

Optimizing rental costs. Poor visibility in the parking lot resulted in costs that could have been avoided. A better knowledge of parking usage would make it possible to rent fewer spaces in outdoor parking lots.

III. Solution

BePark's solution to Marsh's problems came in the form of additional parking spaces alongside the installation of the BePark access system and parking management software in all parking lots (Brussels, Liège, Antwerp).

Additional parking spaces made available

Provision of additional parking spaces for the different Marsh sites in Belgium:

  • Provide a sufficient number of parking spaces to meet the needs of employees. This led to improving overall employee satisfaction.
  • Analysis of the use of the parking lot after a few months to halve the number of spaces rented by the company = Savings on rentals.

Use of parking management software

Parking optimization:

  • Analysis of parking data, ability to plan demand and adapt supply for maximum parking utilization.
  • Centralized management of parking and parking policy for all sites via a single tool providing national coverage.
  • Simplified parking management. Access granted through employee smartphones, taking out the need to manage badges.
  • Visibility of available spaces in the parking lots. Employees can now reserve their space themselves in advance and free it up if they don't need it.
  • Ability to differentiate access types; bicycle access, electric cars, carpooling, etc. Promotion of more sustainable means of transportation.

IV. Results

90%
parking lot occupancy rate during the week.
60%
of time saved for the fleet manager on parking management.
Tripled number of accesses
The number of users with potential access has tripled.
Support for the mobility strategy
Access management allows employees to plan their mobility.
Better visibility in the parking lots
The fleet manager has a clearer view of the parking lots thanks to the data provided by the software.
Today, parking resources are too rare to not be managed properly. With BePark, we can encourage our employees to come to the office by alternative means of transport while maintaining an optimal fill rate."
